5 tips to make your teeth last a lifetime

With age, taking good care of your teeth and dental health gets ever more difficult, but also ever more important. Here’s the rule: losing your teeth is not inevitable, taking good care is.

As time passes, the nerves in your teeth can become smaller making your teeth less sensitive. You can hardly avoid that. Plus, if you skip regular check-ups, your dental problems will worsen. This means the one ultimate piece of advice for you is to regularly visit your dentist.

However, there are also some other simple things that will help you maintain your oral health, if done on a regular basis.

Regular brushing

Brush your teeth twice a day with a toothbrush with soft bristles. Consider an electric toothbrush.

Don’t forget the rest

Clean between your teeth once a day using a floss or another flossing tool.

Take care of your dentures

It doesn’t matter if your denture is full or partial. Clean it on a daily basis and take it out of your mouth for at least four hours every day. Also, it’s a good idea to remove it at night.

Quit smoking.

If you still haven’t, that is. Besides cancer, smoking also increases problems with gum disease, tooth decay and tooth loss.

Visit your dentist.

Regularly. As you age, regular check-ups are more and more important.

Your teeth may last a lifetime, it really isn’t that difficult. All you have to do is adopt healthy oral habits, seek regular dental care and, obviously, make the right choices when it comes to your diet and lifestyle.
